I don't think I want to pay a subscription to 365 Office. Is there a better way? I like Word, but that's all for now.

If you don't want to pay for a subscription to Office 365, there are several free and open-source alternatives that you can use instead. One popular option is LibreOffice, which is a free and open-source office suite that includes a word processor (similar to Microsoft Word), a spreadsheet program, a presentation program, and more.

LibreOffice can open and save files in Microsoft Office formats, making it compatible with Word documents. It also has a similar user interface to Word, so if you're already familiar with Word, you should be able to use LibreOffice with little difficulty.

Another alternative is Google Docs, which is a free cloud-based office suite that includes a word processor, spreadsheet program, presentation program, and more. Google Docs can also open and save files in Microsoft Office formats, and it allows for collaboration in real-time with other users.

Finally, there is also the option of using the online version of Microsoft Office, which is free and offers limited functionality compared to the full desktop version. This allows you to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint without paying for a subscription.

Overall, there are many alternatives to Office 365 that offer similar functionality and are available for free or at a lower cost. It's worth exploring these options to find the one that works best for your needs.
